GHM were appointed by Heyford Homes to provide full architectural services for this new build housing development, on the edge of the village of Hankelow in Cheshire.
The former brownfield agricultural site (that formed part of Lodge Farm) sat at the edge of the village of Hankelow. Our scheme of bespoke dwellings reference the local vernacular but are distinctly modern; the development comprises a range of detached and semi-detached properties of various sizes, to meet local
family needs.
In addition to the new homes, a children’s play area has been developed on the site in association with the Local Authority. This play area is located to the rear boundary of the site bounding open fields and the adjacent drainage field. Sited within the development, this provides a secure environment for children to
play and serves to connect this edge of settlement scheme within the existing community, as this play area is for public use.
Furthermore, we included a central open green amenity area which met the authority’s desire for open space provision which met our aspirations for creating a community and place where people thrive. Each dwelling is located to optimise views to the surrounding green belt whilst maintaining a secure community
around the central open space.
